Motivation: We are in need of more students choosing an education in science, which is one of the reasons why we feel very engaged in becoming part of the project. Through more knowledge and learning, we can motivate more students to choose an education in science. We want to enhance our cultural understanding of the differences we meet, and to benefit from the experiences and expertice of other teachers working with science and technology to increase students' awareness of the challenges, which are a result of the climate change. The area that our school is located at makes way for us to contribute with ideas and solutions that take both rural and urban areas as well as the area in between into account. We want to use art and and creativity to influence and encourage people to take action in reducing environmental problems. Our school and the Municipality of Ballerup in general is focusing on international partnerships in order for the children and young people to be educated properly so they can take on the role of future international citizens. Key people: Head of department, Mikkel Nielsen, will be the main key person in charge together with two international coordinators, who also teach English, Art and Music. They have both participated in a previous Erasmus-project. Having three key persons responsible for the project secures a continuous process during the project, if there has to be a change of key persons. Besides that, science teachers will participate by being responsible for the teaching and learning activities throughout the project. Experience/expertise: The school is situated in a suburb close to the rural area of Copenhagen. We are close to agriculture and forest areas, and we have the possibilty of visiting and cooporating with an organic farm just 5 km from the school. We already use these places to further education. The University of Copenhagen also have a department close to the school, where they focus on sustainability in their research with apples and other fruits and vegetables. We wish to visualise the scientific aspects and results of the project in an artistic way contributing to making people in our local area aware of the ongoing project and the issues it addresses. The idea is to transfer the scientific research into art, e.g. posters, photos, paintings and music.
