After a long break we finally had an Erasmus+ meeting with Romania, Spain and the Netherlands again. But unfortunately, due to the Corona pandemic, we couldn`t meet them in person so we had a digital meeting. To stay in contact with the other students we also created a WhatsApp group chat. On Monday we started our video conference at 9:30am with getting to know each other. Each country prepared stereotypes about another country and in our meeting, we presented these stereotypes, so we learned more about the other countries. It was interesting to see what Romania thinks about Germany. After that, every country presented their presentation about the conflicts between economy and ecology in their region and country. Meanwhile the students had to take notes for a talk show on Thursday. After lunch, each school cooked a typical regional dessert and filmed the process to present it the next day. It was fun to cook with all students of our group and the desserts were very delicious.
The next day, we began our conference at 9:30am with a game again. We played a kahoot game about breakfast versions from different countries which was really funny. Then everyone presented their dessert video from the day before. At 11am we went grocery shopping for our regional main dish and the dessert we got from Romania. We tried to buy products that are as regional as possible, for example at farmer shops and from a regional hunter. Also, we took photos and videos to show it to the other participants. In the afternoon we started to prepare and cook our main dish. We decided to cook wild boar goulash with red cabbage and dumplings and a vegetable quiche as a vegan and vegetarian alternative. We also made the dessert we got from Romania. Cooking took longer than we thought it would but, in the end, it was a nice afternoon and evening. We enjoyed our meal and were home late at 7pm after a pretty long day.
On Wednesday we started as usual at 9:30am creating a power point presentation about our shopping and cooking experience. At 11:30am the Spanish team showed us the Haka dance as an icebreaker in our video conference which was amusing. Following that, each country presented their cooking and shopping experience. Because of the fact that Tuesday was a long day and due to the current situation, we had a free afternoon instead of visiting a farm. The Dutch team prepared the game Gartic Phone for Thursday. At 10am all of us students were put into mixed break-out rooms to collect arguments for a talk show about the fictional city “Erasmusville” to make it sustainable and attractive for the citizens. Afterwards one of each interest group presented their arguments and the jury summarized it and decided for a conclusion.
All in all, the talk show was very interesting and successful. After a lunch break and some technical problems, we had our game afternoon with some cool and funny games from each country. All students went into different virtual rooms to join different games from another country. This game afternoon was a good ending for our meeting because it was funny and we could talk with the other students.
On Friday we packed a secret Santa package for Spain with things we had at home and didn`t need anymore. Unexpectedly we got a lot of things together. Finally we can say that we spent a nice week with the Erasmus+ partners and that we had a lot of fun but we are looking forward to see the students from the other countries in person as soon as possible.
